Improvement of hyperlipidemia by aerobic exercise in mice through a regulatory effect of miR-21a-5p on its target genes

Abstract Hyperlipidemia is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and miR-21a-5p plays an important role in the occurrence progression of hyperlipidemia. Here, we aimed to investigate mechanism aerobic exercise improved hyperlipidemia through enhancing expression. In this study, high-fat/high-cholesterol diet mice received 8 weeks intervention, then collected plasma liver samples, found that there had notable improvement weight gain, blood lipid level, steatosis after intervention. Besides, significantly up-regulated expression provoked favorable changes target genes. Knockdown resulted dysregulation metabolism increased FABP7, HMGCR, ACAT1, OLR1. While could alleviate knock-down induced disorder. Taken together, these results demonstrated miR-21a-5p-induced inhibition genes
